Timely diagnosis of alterations, as they occur in the peripheral nerves, is essential for prevention of disabilities in cases of diabetic, toxic, alcoholic or leprosy neuropathies.

The Aesthesiometer is an instrument that enables quantification of the threshold of skin touch sensitivity.
As a quantitative test, the filaments permit an effective means of detecting alterations and accompanying the evolution of neural lesions.
